After studying violin, she studied composition with Vaughan Williams, Howells, and Jacob, as well as theater and pantomime. He went on to compose music for theater and broadcast, as well as performing on stage himself, singing and playing the piano. In 1947, she married Roger Lord, principal oboist of the London Symphony Orchestra. This album contains all of Dring's oboe works, including pieces she wrote and arranged for her husband Lord, as well as pieces arranged by Lord. The styles are all light and accessible, sometimes with jazz-like harmonies and Poulenc influences.\n\nNicholas Daniel, a native of England, is an oboe player and conductor of international standing. His repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music, chamber music to opera, and he performs with a variety of ensembles.He was awarded the Queen's Medal for Music in 2004 and the Order of the British Empire in 2020.
