The oboe is relatively familiar in the world of Baroque music, as it has played a large part in concertos by Vivaldi and Albinoni and in church cantatas by Bach. However, its history is not as old as that of bowed string instruments and keyboard instruments, and it was not until the late Baroque period, well into the 17th century, that the oboe was born in France as a full-fledged replacement for the Chaume and Bombarde oboes. Outside of France, England was one of the first countries to introduce the French-style oboe, starting in the 1670s. It seems that Charles II, who had absorbed the refined culture of France during his exile there and then returned to England after the restoration of the monarchy, was a major factor in the introduction of the French oboe. She loved this instrument so much that she employed a French oboe orchestra even before she succeeded to the throne. La Petite Ecurie, which makes its CD debut with this recording, sheds light on her era and explores the fascination of oboe music in England \"after Purcell and before Handel\".The orchestra consists of the three wind and percussion instruments that made up the oboe orchestra of the time, and performs a series of chamber music by English composers written in the style of French suites. The contrasting rhythms of the dances are a highlight of the concert, as well as the rich and rich sound of each instrument. The program also features a selection of Purcell's masterpieces, which have remained popular since his death, along with works by Pageble, known for his recorder works, and Finger, a Czech composer who has been secretly reevaluated in recent years.
