At the age of 17, he entered the Leipzig Art Academy, where he studied composition with Reinecke, music theory with Jadassohn, and piano with Zwintzer. He was also active in composition, with more than 300 works recorded, most of which remain unpublished and stored in the Saxon State Archives. The two clarinet sonatas on this album were published in Leipzig in 2015, and despite being composed in the 20th century, they retain a balanced form in the tradition of his mentor Reinecke. the \"Serenade\" in five movements, for piano and The Serenade, the last work for piano and clarinet, shows the playful spirit of the composer's later years.
