The Rachmaninoff live performance is now available on Blu-ray.\n\nSergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), one of Russia's leading composers, was an accomplished pianist and composer of many piano works. There are a total of five concerto works for piano. They were written at different times and have their own unique character. This disc contains all of them and traces the evolution of Rachmaninoff's writing style. Pletnyov's performance brings out the full character of each piece. The fresh pianism of No. 1, written for his final examinations while still a student at the Moscow Conservatory, is a perfect example of Rachmaninoff's masterpiece. The second piece is one of Rachmaninoff's masterpieces and one of the most famous pieces of piano music as a whole. The third piece, which boasts the highest degree of technical and expressive difficulty.The fourth piece has a different solemn atmosphere and mature romanticism from his previous works.
