It has been suggested that the three viola da gamba sonatas on this album (BWV 1027, BWV 1028, and BWV 1029) may have been re-edited from different pieces, but the last one, BWV 1030 (originally a flute sonata), was written by the talented copyist Johann Friedrich Hering, and it is believed to be quite close to the early version.
