The Plotian String Quartet is a new quartet born in Basel in 2018, led by Spanish players, and focused primarily on rediscovering the stylistic, rhetorical, and technical aspects of the musical language of the Classical and Early Romantic periods. The quartet, whose name means \"versatile\" or \"multifaceted,\" is made up of members who studied at the music academies of Berlin, Zurich, Frankfurt, and Basel, respectively, and has had a remarkable recent success, winning first prize at the International Biagio Marini Competition in 2020 and at the York International Competition for Old Music in 2022. The recording of a CD has been one of the main goals of the quartet since its inception, and the unity and maturity of the quartet members that has developed over the past three years have finally provided the ideal opportunity to realize this goal.
