From 1929, he served as concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic under Furtwängler, while also gaining worldwide fame as part of a string trio with Hindemith (viola) and Feuermann (cello), and from 1934 to 1940, as a duo with Lili Kraus (piano). Goldberg possessed a clear and beautiful tone; his music is delicate, refined, and brimming with elegance. He left behind particularly acclaimed recordings of Mozart.
