The ballet \"Wolf\" is the story of a wife whose husband is seduced by a gypsy woman and who brings home a wolf from a circus hut, tricked into believing he is her husband, and who develops an affection for the wolf. Its unique plot is said to be a variation on the story of \"Beauty and the Beast. The performance was a great success, lasting three months, and made his reputation in the field of ballet music. The work has a familiar, humorous, yet sophisticated sound.
