Promised Heights cemented Cymande's place in music history and features some of his most beloved and often sampled songs, including \"Brothers On The Slide. Cymande was part of the first wave of the fledgling Black British music scene.Influenced by their Guyanese and Jamaican roots, the band blends reggae bass lines, Afro-inspired nyahbinghi percussion, psychedelic rock touches, and American-style funk instrumentation to create a unique sound they call \"Nyah-rock\". The result is a unique sound that they call \"Nyah-rock\". Promised Heights was recorded after a U.S. tour with Al Green, which firmly established the band in the ears of American enthusiasts.
