The Replacements were the original alternative rock band active mainly in the 1980s. The Replacements' 5th album "PLEASE TO MEET ME", released in 1987, is an ambitious work that concentrates a diverse range of musicality from punk rock to jazz and soul. The Replacements were the original alternative rock band in the 80s. In the early days, the band's sound was strongly hardcore punk, but as they released more and more albums, their sound shifted to a more rootsy sound that utilized frontman Paul Westerberg's songwriting while maintaining their own identity with punk roots. In the course of their career, the band has become a major force in the punk music scene. Their fifth studio album, "PLEASE TO MEET ME," released in 1987, is an ambitious work that encapsulates the diversity of their musicality, from punk rock to jazz to soul. PLEASE TO MEET ME" reflects the band's growth from a punk band to a mature rock band with a wider range of musicality, and a deluxe edition of the album is now available that captures the band in more detail.This 3-CD set, plus an analog LP, contains nearly half of the songs on the album that have never been released before! The album includes demos, rough mixes, and outtakes that did not make it on the album, as well as the last recording with guitarist Bob Stinton (recorded in 1986), who left the band before the album's release.
