The APR label, which has been releasing Backhaus's recordings in extremely high quality remastered versions, now reissues all of Backhaus's acoustic recordings and some of his early electric recordings made between 1908 and 1936, when Backhaus began his recording career. The reissued recordings include the world's first concerto recording, \"Grieg: Piano Concerto\" from 1909 (only the first and third movements, condensed version), and other rare recordings of the young Backhaus, who was known as the \"Lion King of the Keyboard\" and was making a name for himself as an exciting virtuoso.
