It depicts a powerful image of the archangel Michael triumphing over Satan. Beginning with a gorgeous brass and vocal opening chorus, the aria evolves from joy of victory to trust and then to a prayer for the angel's blessing. After a charming double chorus, the work concludes with a chorale in which the trumpets play an active role. No. 88 is a cantata for the Fifth Sunday after Trinity in 1726. It has a two-part structure based on the Old and New Testaments, with the opening aria contrasting the fisherman and the hunter, and through recitative, aria, and duet, expressing \"God fighting for the souls of men,\" and concluding with a brief chorale. No. 148 is based on verse 14 of the Gospel of Luke, a piquander poem about the celebration of God's day, based on the story of the healing of the Sabbath, but the year of its first performance is unknown. The trumpet-led chorus is followed by a powerful tenor aria, a recitative from Psalm 42, and an aria colored by a subdued bass and woodwinds that sings of the \"joyful sound\" of worship and the liberation of the believer's heart, concluding with a short chorale.\n\nNaxos Japan","brand":"J.S.
