He then studied with organist Friedrich Schneider in Dessau, where he served as music director of the Dessau Court Opera from 1841 to 1850, and from 1851 to 1857 as choral conductor and organist in Mainz, where he also wrote several operas. He also wrote several operas. He wrote many works for piano and organ, and this album presents organ works written during the latter half of his life. His organ works range from small pieces entitled \"Mummets\" to traditional canons, and are all written in the elaborate style of Luks, who was an excellent organist.
