The \"Nocturnes\" were composed between 1985 and 1991, and they emphasize a lyrical atmosphere rather than the boldness of the \"Cartas Celestes,\" paying homage to his teacher, Messiaen, with a delicacy reminiscent of Chopin and Scriabin, and also using bossa nova-like rhythms.
