This is a CD with domestic distribution specifications.

Xerrox Vol. 5" has a lot to do with farewells: not only farewells to the series itself, which I have nurtured for nearly 20 years, but also farewells to many people who have been close to me. I think we can recognize these people in the music. It's a very emotional and personal album."

The "Xerrox" (Xerox) series by master musician Karsten Nicolai, aka Alva Noto, began in 2007. The original concept was to create "copies" (reproductions) of images and sounds that would be more memorable than the originals. The name of the series originated from the trademark name of an electrophotographic copier commercialized by Xerox Corporation in the U.S. in 1960, which is now derived from "xerox," meaning copier or copy, but it also influenced the fundamental concept of "copy (reproduction)" as well as the name.Over the nearly 20 years since the first recording in 2005~2006, the five albums in the series have accompanied the artist's evolving perspective and conceptual approach.

Initially characterized by a conceptual focus that sought answers in roughness and white noise, later works have addressed the theme of "dissolution" while shifting the emphasis to acoustic particles. The process of copying is no longer visible through software manipulation, but instead unfolds as the artist describes, manipulates, copies, and transforms melodic and sonic images into new patterns during composition.

Nicolai describes this evolution as a journey that encompasses construction, exploration, and resolution, drawing parallels with Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey" and Jules Verne's story featuring Captain Nemo. The completion of the album also represents a break for the artist. Nicolai explains, "I aimed to create an entire cycle of tracks that frames both the beginning and the end.The journey motif continues, but this time the story culminates in dissolution through the conceptual purpose of a journey to infinity.

The word dissolution (German for "Auflösung") is a wonderful concept, meaning both the unraveling of a mystery and the complete dissolution of a pill in water. Here, I am intentionally describing the dissolution process."

Tracklisting:

1.Xerrox Topia
2.Xerrox Sans Nom I
3.Xerrox Sans Nom II
4.Xerrox Ascent I
5.Xerrox Ascent II
6.Xerrox Sans Repit
7.Xerrox Nausicaa
8.Xerrox Xenonym
9.Xerrox Ada
10.Xerrox Arc
11.Xerrox Kryogen
12.Xerrox Isotope
