He studied under Jean Depras (1944-2015) and Philippe Murrer (1946-), and was inspired by Henri Dutilleux, one of the most important French composers from the late 20th century to the present. In 2002, he was awarded the French Classical Music Prize and the French Order of Arts and Letters.In 2005, he founded \"Block 15\" with pianist Pascal Amoyale and actor\/director Jean Piato, with whom he has been performing. His recordings include Harmonium Handi cello works by Alkan and Liszt (HMA-1951758), 20th century solo cello works (HMG-508466), Shostakovich cello works (HMC-902142), Chopin cello works (HMC-902199), Dutilleux and Debussy cello works (HMC-902209), and Saint-Saens: Cello Works (HMM902210\/KKC.5769), including the world premiere recording of his last cello sonata No. 3.
