From the age of 8, he studied under Zakhar Bron in Lübeck. He also received instruction in Brussels from Igor Oistrakh, Valery Oistrakh, and Augustin Dumay. In 2000, he placed fourth in the junior division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. He won first prize at the 2003 Montreal International Competition and second prize and the Audience Award at the 2005 Queen Elisabeth Competition at a young age. He has been praised as “a violinist with impressive authority and presence” (The Strad). He has been teaching at the Brussels Conservatory since 2008.\nRegarding the recording of this album, Joseph Ivanov remarked, “Pairing the violin concertos by Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky on a single album may seem like a somewhat unusual choice, but to me it was an obvious one. Both of these Russian concertos are composed in D major and were likely inspired by Beethoven’s outstanding violin concertos. “Both are statements within the repertoire—both instrumentally and structurally—representing a clear transition between the old and the new, and they are works that have retained a refreshing splendor throughout this period,” he says.\nIn Tchaikovsky, the soloist’s sensibility is woven into the music, bringing out both its depth and lightness; in Stravinsky, the performance is filled with moving prayers that evoke an intellectual sensuality, This performance conveys a sense of playing these two masterpieces—which bring out the violin’s distinctive qualities—head-on, fully embodying the musicality embedded within them.\nWarner Music Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Warner Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595659927841,"sku":"190296416514","price":31.0,"currency_code":"CAD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/190296416514.jpg?v=1790482163","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ca\/products\/190296416514","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
