The majestic chorus and delicate orchestration, interwoven with elements of medieval music and chant-like melodies, create a timeless sound.\n\n\n\nNickel's characteristic attention to instrumentation also stands out, with a quartet of oboes appearing in both works. Along with the oboe and cor anglais, the rarely heard oboe d'amore and bass oboe are used, and in the \"Mass\" a pair of Wagner tubas are featured.
