This side of the maestro is largely unknown to the general audience, but deeply appreciated and influential to many artists and connoisseurs. It was Morricone, born of seemingly "minor" cinema, and the creative freedom afforded by the bis-cinema system that has long inspired a generation of musicians born after him, especially in the worlds of rock, pop, and dance.He blended avant-garde pulses and pop culture, atonal mazes and compelling melodies, psych flavors, and innovative arrangements to create a unique and unrepeatable short circuit between high and low, dark and light. The result was very modern for his time and sounds incredibly contemporary to this day.
