This is the best of the best selection of The Funkies, the best dance band in East Nigeria in the early 70's. Funk and Rare Groove fans rejoice! There were only a few bands in Africa at that time that clearly played FUNK! Their creed is to make the dance floor go wild. They were the only band from Eastern Nigeria that could compete with the likes of MONOMONO from Lagos in the west.The Funkies have released a selection of their two albums plus the world's first compilation of all of their Nigerian 7" songs (!). This is the world's first compilation of all of their Nigerian 7" songs (!), compiled by SOUNDWAY Miles Claret! Many song funk tunes, percussive boogie like M-4, Afro jazz funk M-10 with hot saxophone, rude and psychedelic jam M-7 similar to Jackie Mittoo's funk tune, cover of War's "Slipping Into Darkness" M-9, etc.... M-9, a cover of War's "Slipping Into Darkness," and many more sounds that will make funk and rare groove fans drool!
