Female Folk Treasures of the 60's! Estonian-born, Swedish-raised, Canadian-based female folk singer Rhett Hendrikson's only album from 1969, "REET," has been reissued. With her simple, deft, and sad-sounding guitar and dainty Estonian vocals, this is a gem that has the same irreplaceable charm as Vashti Bunyan, Bridget St. John, Sybil Byer, or Molly Drake. Having learned Estonian like a native in Sweden, she moved to Canada to express her identity as a young Estonian exile from the Soviet occupation by singing an arrangement of Estonian folk songs. She was singing under a pine tree in North Muskoka during a summer seminar in Estonia, which caught her attention and led to the recording of this work. This is a piece that grabs your heart and won't let go with its unique verse/melody, the texture of the Estonian language with its curly tongue, and most of all, her fragile and beautiful voice and performance.
