Description:
The ETA Quartet was born out of sessions held at the legendary ETA live house in LA. The quartet includes jazz guitarist Jeff Parker, Josh Johnson, Anna Butters, and others, and has been released on CD in Japan! The music is improvised and breathes at the very forefront of ambient jazz, which has been gaining momentum in LA and other cities in recent years. Jeff Parker has made another superb album. His ETA IVtet was formed at a restaurant called ETA in LA, where they have been playing weekly residencies since 2016. At first they played standards. As the songs became longer and longer, the performance became a musical journey that attracted customers and a line formed outside the restaurant waiting to get in. At the ETA, the long, uninterrupted performance was recorded with only four carefully selected microphones and a custom mixer. The essence of ambient jazz, which can connect standards to dub/reggae into beautiful lines, is captured here. (Masaaki Hara rings producer)
