Description:

TOWER RECORPO's first ultimate compilation of the best of J-FUSION, featuring the best songs and performances of "Heisei" J-FUSION from the late 80's to the early 2000's! The J-Fusion genre flourished in the 70's and early 80's when the fusion genre was established, but with the advent of the "Heisei" era, a new history began. The made-in-Japan pop melody lines, the clear and varied sense of harmony, and the flexible rhythm arrangements from funky grooves to tight beats. This 2-CD set contains 28 tracks carefully selected from Victor's excellent J-FUSION recordings, in SHM-CD format with the latest K2 HD PRO MASTERING. The music selection and commentary is by Makoto Hatta (former ADLIB editor, current THE SAX editor), who was in charge of commentary for the legendary two J-FUSION compilations "ALL THAT J-FUSION" and "ALL THAT J-FUSION NOW" released by Victor in 2002. He will once again, after 20 years, convey the appeal of each song to the age of "2025" with his condensed commentary. The first track on DISC 1 is "Fast Track," the first track from the 2002 debut album of the super band Four of a Kind, formed by four top players at the urging of super bassist Tomohito Aoki. 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the group's debut. The third track, "Orson's Restaurant," is a song by Toshio Tsunomatsu, who has played a role in revitalizing J-Fusion, and features many of the familiar faces from Tsunomatsu's work. Other members include pianist Satoshi Shiotani, a member of Four of a Kind and known for his work with Orquesta de la Luz; popular drummer Shuichi "Ponta" Murakami, who boasted an overwhelming presence in the Japanese popular music scene, who formed his first band, Ponta Box; and drummer Toshio Kadomatsu, who made a strong impression in the 1990s with his debut album, "Ponta Box". DISC2 opens with the last two artists from DISC1.First, "Go Go Godzilla" by Hiroko Kunifu, who has been enlivening the scene with her diverse piano and keyboard work, followed by "Orange" by Masato Honda, a hyper saxophone player who went solo after leaving the popular fusion group T-SQUARE and has performed with many groups, including Four of a Kind. The album also features Tetsuo Sakurai, bass player for popular J-Fusion bands Cassiopeia and JIMSAKU, and trombonist Murakami, who leads Solid Brass, one of the most powerful brass bands in Japan. Trombonist Yoichi Murata, who leads Solid Brass, the most powerful brass band in Japan; guitarist Masaki Matsubara, known for his work with Parachute and for playing in songs and new music; Big Horns Bee, the horn section of Yone Yone Club, whose leader Takahiro Kaneko gained much attention for his music in the NHK morning drama "Come Come Everybody," and "Fusion Idol. The content of the concert is a reminder that J-FUSION has continued to evolve thanks to the talents of artists such as saxophone player Kaori Kobayashi, who debuted as a "fusion idol" and whose popularity in Asia is now spreading to the rest of the world.Catchy melodies and driving beats that carry you through the sparkling time!
