For the next 21 years, as a teacher, he trained many students. He composed nearly 60 piano pieces during his lifetime, most of which, including the world premiere recordings on this album, were composed in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and all have familiar salon-style melodies. Performed by Katowice-born Magdalena Lisak, who gained a foothold on the international scene when she was a finalist at the 13th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1995. Coming from a musical family, her grandfather studied with Roman Statkowski at the Warsaw Conservatory, making her a pianist with close ties to the composer.
