It was written as incidental music for the play of the same name by Shloime Ansky. And finally, the quintet for clarinet and string quartet by Israeli composer Paul Ben-Haim. He was born in Germany, studied music in West Germany, and moved to Israel after the rise of the Nazis. Ben-Haim has two musical backgrounds. This quintet is a masterpiece that skillfully blends melody, rhythm, and structure from both worlds.
