Seoul is a 3-member group from Montréal that has been releasing music and videos on the web since 2013 and already has a large number of followers. Their music is a miraculous fusion of AOR/Free Soul influences such as Steely Dan and Todd Rundgren, and dream pop with a pleasant synth melody that combines yin and yang. In the video for the classic song "Stay With Us," their debut single that catapulted them to fame, the sophisticated soul arrangement and floating vocals beautifully express the emotions of a foreign woman visiting Tokyo. The urban imagery is complemented by dream pop/ambient elements arranged by the members themselves, who have a wide range of musical tastes, including Tim Hecker and Stars of the Lid as their favorites. The pop, sweet, and wistful sound of this album makes it one of the best city pop albums of the era. The band has already toured extensively in Canada and North America, and has already performed at SXSW, POP Montreal, and The Great Escape in the UK. This is definitely an artist to watch. Two bonus tracks are included on the Japanese version only.
