In 1993, Gergiev recorded \"1812\" and the Slavonic March with the same orchestra (the Kirov Opera Orchestra), but this re-recording after 15 years is the ultimate in maturity. The difference in the size and depth of the music is obvious, and unlike the previous recording, which was surprisingly quiet, the performance is reminiscent of historical Russian conductors. The common feature among the five recordings is the citation of the Russian national anthem from the Czarist era. Therefore, these are problematic works that were forbidden to be performed in their original form only 20 years ago in the Soviet era. It is a great pleasure to hear these works performed by Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra.
