The German orthodox violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann, born in 1965 in Duisburg, Germany, has recently recorded with Antoine Tamusti (viola) and Christian Portella (cello) in the \"Trio Zimmermann\" on the BIS label. The albums of Beethoven (BIS SA 1857\/KKC 5222), Mozart and Schubert (BIS SA 1817\/KKC 5202) have all been specially selected by Record Artists and have become best sellers.F.P. Zimmermann's most notable new recording is a collection of works by Paul Hindemith, who celebrated his 50th anniversary in 2013! Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) was not only a composer but also a violinist and violist, and left many works for strings. In 1938, he moved to Switzerland, and from 1940-47, to avoid the war, he lived in the United States. The works on this album were composed between 1918 and 1939, before his exile to the United States. The Violin Concerto was commissioned by conductor Mengelberg and premiered in 1940 by the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, conducted by Mengelberg, with concertmaster Ferdinand Hermann as solo violinist.This violin concerto begins with Hindemith's characteristic flowing melody. In this recording, Zimmermann's extremely soft bowing and sparklingly beautiful playing can be heard. In the parts where the melody is like a dialogue between the violin and orchestra, the hr Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Paavo Järvi, supports the violin as if they are close to each other, and they give a wonderful performance of this work, which is said to be difficult to express musically.
