Ike, an improviser\/composer and heavily influenced by American jazz, composed in the same spirit as these people, reintegrating the textures and colors of Norwegian folk music with American jazz. With violinist Jörgen Larsen, a fine fiddler with roots in the Norwegian folk tradition, as his partner, Helge Norrbakken's percussion and Mats Eillettsen's bass keep the song moving along, backed by Jon Balke's lyrical piano playing. The music is a great example of the power of the percussionist.\n\n\n\nThe genesis of this album was inspired by Eick's feeling of \"finally being home\" when he arrived in the Midwest after a long and grueling tour of the United States, where he had become homesick.
