This is the fourth work conducted by Kazuyoshi Akiyama, who is currently the Music Advisor and Chief Conductor of the Ninth Symphony Orchestra, following FOCD9290 \"Overtures\", FOCD9317 \"Ride of the Valkyries: Super Sounds\" and FOCD9371 \"Petrushka, Daphnis and Chloe\". This is the fourth work. The Manfred Symphony was composed in 1885 as a title symphony based on Byron's dramatic poem \"Manfred. It is the only title symphony and also the only symphony without a number. It was composed between the 4th and 5th symphonies, and is a very dramatic and brilliant work. The opera \"Eugeny Onegin\" is based on the novel of the same name by Pushkin. Tchaikovsky himself dared to call it a lyrical scene rather than an opera. It is music that delicately portrays the psychology of the characters. This CD includes the Polonaise and Waltz. The Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Akiyama, expresses the character of both pieces, sometimes harshly and sometimes with fluidity, in a masterful performance that will make you reaffirm the joy of listening to music.
