Later, Gluck went to Paris, revised this opera to be sung in French, and premiered it at the Paris Opera in 1774 as \"Orphée et Ulidis\" (Orphe and Ulidis). In this revised version, the music (dances and arias, including the famous \"Dance of the Spirits\") was added, and the leading role of Orphe (Orfeo) was completely revised, including the replacement of the alto castrato with an autocontre (high tenor). The success of \"Orphe and Uridis\" and \"Iphigénie d'Auris,\" which was performed in Paris in the same year, cemented Gluck's reputation in Paris, and he would go down in the history of French opera as the successor to Lully and Rameau.\n\nThis production features three of the most sought-after singers on the world opera scene in the leading roles of Juan Francisco Gatel, a bel canto tenor with a broad range, Anna Prohaska, an expressive and intelligent soprano, and Sara Branch, a transparent soprano. The production by Pierre Audi, a master of the European stage direction world, is innovative in that Orfe, Ulidis, and Amour, dressed in pure white, play a three-way love-hate relationship against the backdrop of Jean Kalman's fantastical stage design and a dance by Arno Suhaitemaker that represents the stirrings of the deepest psyche. Under Daniele Gatti's meticulous baton, the orchestra of the Florence May Festival, which includes period instruments in addition to winds, renders this masterpiece with sharpness and depth of shadow.\n\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dynamic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51443729203489,"sku":"4589538822682","price":30.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538822682.jpg?v=1751380704","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-be\/products\/4589538822682","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
