He visited the United States four more times, in 1906, 1907, and 1911. His works were very popular in the U.S., especially \"Dignity\" became an indispensable work for high school and college graduation ceremonies in the U.S. This album contains his recordings from the 1940s in the U.S. and 1950s. This album contains three works recorded in the United States in the 1940s: the \"Enigma\" Variations, performed by Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra in 1949; the \"Cello Concerto,\" Piatigorsky's only recording; and his late work \"Falstaff,\" conducted by Lodzinski and rarely acknowledged in the United Kingdom. Falstaff,\" a work from his later years that had not been well received in the U.K. under Piatigorsky's baton, are all enthusiastically performed, reflecting Elgar's steady popularity in the U.S. All of these works have been carefully remastered by audio engineer Lani Spar to bring back the vivid sound of those days.
