This time, \"The Immutable Sea,\" inspired by the 1910 D.W. Griffith short film of the same name, is a musical and visual collaboration born of Gordon's long-term partnership with filmmaker Bill Morrison.\" Gordon's \"hypnotic\" and engaging music (which is by no means soothing) is given an old-fashioned visual treatment by Morrison, filmed in Seattle in 1897, to create a \"strange and nostalgic dreamlike experience\" for the viewer. The piano is played here by Tomoko Mukaiyama, a unique Japanese pianist. The piece ends abruptly after reaching an intense climax, with a series of powerful bass notes that continue for about nine minutes from the beginning, coupled with the sound of an orchestra that covers this piano. The other piece, \"Harmony in Beijing,\" is music that Gordon recalled from his visit to the Hui Sound Wall in Beijing's Temple of Heaven Park.The sound travels across the stone floor and is heard as an echo, recreating a mysterious scene with exciting acoustics.
