The quartet was formed in the early 2000s after Natsuki Tamura was introduced to Yoshida by Masaaki Kikuchi, and the four members continue to change without looking back. The Goko Fujii Quartet, described as \"avant-garde progressive jazz rock with a fast and furious pace\", is making a comeback! The quartet consists of a strong rhythm section (Takeharu Hayakawa on bass and Tatsuya Yoshida on drums) and Natsuki Tamura on trumpet, and is essentially Goko Fujii's first regular unit since returning to Japan after studying at the New England Conservatory of Music and performing in New York. The group was formed in early 2000 when Masaaki Kikuchi, who had been active in SLASH TRIO, introduced her to Yoshida, and released \"Vulcan\" in 2001, followed by a total of five albums until \"Bacchus\" (recorded in 2006), after which the group stopped its activities. This is their first studio recording in 18 years. On the other hand, he has toured abroad with the members, and they respect each other. In 2023, Fujii performed at a marathon New Year's show at the Shinjuku Pit Inn, followed by a four-city tour in Japan in July. 2024 saw Fujii perform at another marathon show at the Pit Inn, and finally in April, she recorded this album, This finally led to this recording. With the exception of one song recorded with Natsuki Tamura, the other six songs are all new. As Goko Fujii's words, \"I don't like to look back at the past; good music needs to change and stay alive,\" indicate, the first recording in 18 years has nothing to do with nostalgia. She also said that she listened to the rehearsal sound just before recording, made some hasty changes to the arrangement, and recorded the piece on the spot. The result is an organic momentum of a band that has been described as progressive and has caused a stir both at home and abroad. The album opens with a fanfare of trumpet, bass, and drums, and the seven songs that make up its 55-minute running time are a testament to the band's organic vigor that has kept them in the spotlight both domestically and internationally. The ensemble's intricate, unruffled variation, grooving rhythms, themes and solos that are both free-form and catchy, and a roaring, explosive, yet refreshing sense of speed... they defy the barriers of jazz, rock, punk, progressive music, and other genres. This quartet is filled with free spirits, and the four will be roaring through Europe this fall with their new album!
