Chihei Hatakeyama, has become a leading figure in the ambient\/drone music scene in Japan, releasing numerous works on labels in Japan and abroad. He will release his first album \"Late Spring\" in Japan on April 7 (Wed.), the first album from the UK.\n\n\n\nThis album gently unfolds the experience of a shared journey through a series of rich and outstanding encounters. From the ringing underwater echoes of the cathedral organ-like first track \"Breaking Dawn\" to the clever drift of \"Twilight Sea\" that closes the album, the record is a masterpiece of dense and beautiful melodies. The sound of the spreading synthesizers and the glowing, slow-motion guitars draw you in, which is then combined with the occasional acoustic element. The sound is reminiscent of computer code flowing through a machine's veins like artificial blood.\n\n\n\nInspired by the beauty of the circular motion of landscapes and the changing seasons lying beneath everyday life, as shown in the work of Japanese filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu, with whom the 1949 film shares its title, \"Late Spring\" projects an impression of older films. The concept of circular motion came to Hatakeyama while he was watching David Lynch's \"Twin Peaks The Return.\n\n\n\nHe said he is usually a fast worker, but this was one of the most time-consuming pieces of work in his career; the production process began in 2018 and continued until 2020, when the piece was completed. He re-examined his approach to his playing, using a new amplifier and microphone setup to play and record the guitar and synths. To simplify the melody and tone, he used only one instrument per track, one synth only and one electric guitar only.\n\n\n\nWith over 70 albums to date, following the release of his first full-length album, Minima Moralia, in 2006, which earned an 8.1 rating on Pitchfork, Hatakeyama has developed a strong working canon. His catalog extends from numerous prestigious labels such as Kranky and Room40 to his own label, White Paddy Mountain. The release rate of his work is undeniably impressive, but even more noteworthy is the fact that each of his albums is engaging and remains of high quality.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Gearbox Records Limited.","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":49706225697057,"sku":"4571524500124","price":18.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4571524500124.jpg?v=1719687608","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-be\/products\/4571524500124","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
