The long-awaited new album \"Magic School\" by Hasegawa Hakushi, who signed a contract with Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder in July 2023, has been released. This is Hasegawa's first full-length album since signing with Brainfeeder and his first in four years and eight months, and it features the talented jazz bassist Sam Wilkes, who was released at the time the label deal was announced and is well known for his collaborations with Lewis Cole and Sam Gendell. The album will feature a total of 12 songs, including the single \"Mouth Fireworks\" with Sam Wilkes, \"Gyotsukari Shitatta\" with Kid Fresino, the self-cover of \"Bud ni Kaminari\" for Hanafu, and \"Fear no Hoshi\" with Hazama Miho on horn arrangement. The preceding single \"Boys' Texture,\" which was released at the time of the album announcement, is based on a song written by Hasegawa for noir kei ninomiya's Spring\/Summer 2024 show at Paris Fashion Week in 2023, and features Shudai Nishida on guitar.The album was mixed by Masashi Uramoto and mastered by Heba Kadry, who has also worked with Bjork. Hasegawa, who has always had an aversion to her own appearance and has always been afraid of her reflection in mirrors and photographs, confronts this aversion in this song, as seen in the recently released artist photo.
