This CD features various recordings by Slovenian violinist Dejan Bravnichal (1937-2018), who studied in Rome under Pina Carmirelli, later concertmaster of I Musici. The Devil's Trill is a masterful performance by Bravnichal. Matej Babnik (1787-1868) was a composer of probably Slovenian descent. Born in Vienna, he moved to Ljubljana as a teenager, where he was active, and later spent time as a pedagogue in Budapest. The performance by Brahms, who was just shy of 30 years old, is excellent. Matija Bravnichal is Dejan's father. Matija Bravnichal: Sonata for Solo Violin is the same recording as the one on ZKP 115189. Tobu Land System
