This release commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gabriel Pierné, the same composer as Debussy, with whom Aoyagi is well acquainted, and features a collection of the finest violin sonatas by composers who lived in France at the turn of the century. Together with Christophe Giovaninetti, a master of the past who studied together at the Conservatoire de Marseille and has been working together as a duo since 2009, they will present a captivating program focusing on the sounds of modern France. G. Pierné (1863-1937) was a musician who studied composition with Massenet and organ with Franck at the Paris Conservatory. His Violin Sonata was dedicated to Thibaud, a master musician of the time, and is a work with strong echoes of his teacher Franck. The lyrical melody is beautiful, and the beautiful ensemble of the brilliant violin solo and delicate piano accompaniment is superb. Debussy's \"Minstrels\" is the twelfth piece in the first collection of preludes. The violinist A. Altmann arranged the piece for violin and piano, and Debussy reworked the version. The third piece, \"Serenade,\" is an unfinished work whose sketches were discovered by musicologist Robert Orridge, and was probably composed in the 1890s. The work on this album is a reconstruction of this drawing by Orridge, who is also a Debussy scholar. Aoyagi, who is also active as a Debussy researcher, is also enthusiastic about this work. In addition to these, this album also includes Fauré's Violin Sonata. This album is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the delicate and beautiful sound of French music at the end of the 19th century. You will not want to miss the excellent violin solo by the virtuoso Giovaninetti, one of the founding members of the famous Ysaÿe Quartet! Japanese commentary is included. Christophe Giovannetti, aka Izumi Aoyagi] They have been playing together since their days at the Conservatoire de Marseille, where they studied with Pierre Barbizet.Since graduating, Giovanetti has attracted attention as a rare individual who combines performing and writing, and his nine CDs released to date have been specially selected by \"Record Geijutsu\" magazine. He has also received numerous awards for his writing, including the 9th Yoshida Hidekazu Award for his review of his teacher Yasukawa Kazuko, \"Tsubasa no Hareta Finger\" (The Finger with Wings). Giovanetti was a founding member of the Isaï and Elysée Quartets, and is active mainly in the field of chamber music. The duo began performing together in 2009, and since then they have given many well-received recitals in France and Japan.
