Description:

Voglio cantar (I want to sing!) This album is titled "Voglio cantar (I want to sing!)". It is sung by a young Hungarian soprano, Emeke Barath. After winning the first prize at the Innsbruck International Vocal Competition in 2011, she has performed at the Hungarian State Opera, Theater an der Wien, Theatre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Opera Bordeaux, etc. under the direction of Minkowski, Savart, Alarcon, Aym, Dantoine, and others. In May 2017, she sang the Tyrol role in Cavalli's "Ippermestra" conducted by Christie at the Glyndebourne Festival, and in November 2017, she sang the role of an angel in "Messiaen: St. Francis of Assisi" at the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra concert conducted by Cambourin. He received rave reviews for his role as the angel. This is her first solo album with the Erato label, having previously appeared on two albums by Philip Jaroussky, "The Orpheus Myth - Monteverdi, Rossi, and Sartorio" and "Gluck: Orfeo and Euridice," and this is her first solo album with Erato under an exclusive contract. This album features an interesting collection of arias by Barbara Strozzi, a female composer active in 17th century Italy, and her teacher Francesco Cavalli, interwoven with instrumental works. It is assumed that it was difficult for women to become independent composers in Venice at that time, but Strozzi is known for publishing her works under her own name and receiving high acclaim. She excelled in both religious and secular works, and wrote numerous works, many of which have been lost today. However, his surviving works are all harmonious and lyrical, requiring the singer to improvise phrases to the best of his or her ability. The singer, who has sung a wide variety of ancient and contemporary works at will, also shows her great talent on this album, singing almost exclusively in a limpid non-vibrato tone with a wonderful ajarita. The energetic accompaniment by Il Pomo d'Oro is also a highlight of the album. This is a disc that will surely open your eyes to the joys of vocal music of the Baroque era. Warner Music Japan
