The Verve Acoustic Sounds series, a major project launched in 2020 to reissue the Verve Label Group's master recordings in analog format with the best possible sound quality, is now available on SACD. The Verve Acoustic Sounds SACD series is the latest DSD conversion of these masters, allowing you to enjoy the ultimate sound of the label's prestigious work on SACD. This is a true live recording of John Coltrane's performance at the Village Vanguard, a sacred jazz venue, featuring three selected tracks. Among them, "Chasin' the Train," in which Coltrane blows nonstop for 16 minutes, is overwhelming. The improvisation that continues without any introduction or theme is tremendous. Backing him were only Garrison and Elvin, who joined the band for the first time. All the songs have different compositions, including "Spiritual," in which Dolphy plays as a guest, and the quartet's modal "Refreshingly Like the Morning Sun.
