Because of its loud sound, it was suitable for playing dances in the open air. This album features the krummhorn, the bombarde (shawm), which is also a two-reed instrument, and the sintagma amici, an ensemble that handles the recorder. The album features up to eight krummhorns and other instruments (even the label's president, musicologist Jérôme Lejeune, plays a krummhorn), and includes many small Renaissance pieces, such as the Danserie (a collection of dances) edited by Susart, and is one of Ricercar's most enjoyable and successful albums. This is a very enjoyable big hit album of Ricercar.
