Meat Puppets is an alternative rock band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1980. The original lineup consisted of brothers Kirkwood (Curt (G\/Vo) and Cris (B\/Vo)) and Derrick Bostrom (Dr). The brothers and Derrick met Bostrom while in high school and practiced regularly in a shed behind their house. The band started out as a punk rock band, but like many of their SST labelmates, they blended punk with elements of country, psychedelic rock, and 70s hard rock, and developed their own unique style featuring Curt's distinctive vocals.
