He has completed his latest studio album "BEHOLD ELECTRIC GUITAR", which follows his previous studio album "I CAN DESTROY"! The 12 songs on this album are filled with some of Paul Gilbert's most expressive and truly brilliant guitar playing. When Paul began work on this album, he first wrote the lyrics and then began adding melodies to them. He then used the guitar to express the melody lines for the vocals, rather than recording the finished songs with vocals. He explains, "I solved the puzzle rhythmically and melodically by writing the lyrics first. Then I put together the chords, arrangement, and groove that best fit the melody. Once I felt that the song was taking shape, I threw the lyrics aside and started expressing the melody on the guitar. The challenge was to keep the vocalist's expressiveness on guitar. In a way, some parts are easier to express than vocals, for example, the sudden move to a higher part is no problem at all on the guitar! So I was able to write the melody without the limit of the range of pitches. If I couldn't actually sing it, I could do it on guitar! Paul Gilbert: This album is not a cover of an Aerosmith or James Brown song, but a guitar rendition of a melody line that Paul himself wrote for his own vocals, taking it one step further. This time, however, he goes one step further. Another thing to note about this latest album is that it is a more live performance, with no overdubs on any of the songs. The musicians (Brian Foxworth on drums and Asher Fulero on key) include New Orleans bass legend Roland Guerin, and the producer is John Cuniberti, known for his work with Joe Satriani. The recordings were made with a minimum of microphones, and the real grooves created during the sessions between the four outstanding musicians are recorded as they are.Overdubbing and editing later is a very easy way to record, but I prefer to record live as much as possible, because the music is expressed in the right way through the musicians, the song, and the performance. I prefer to record live as much as possible, because the music can be expressed in the right way through the musicians, the songs, and the performances. I don't use any overdubs on this album. What you hear here is the sound of the four musicians jamming with each other. I didn't want to overdub and fix it later, so I just kept myself mentally active during the recording and was stimulated by each sound and the space between them. It was a wonderful space.

Tracklisting:

.Havin' It
.I Own a Building
.Everywhere That Mary Went
.Love Is the Saddest Thing
.Sir, You Need to Calm Down
.Let That Battery Die
.Blues for Rabbit
.Every Snare Drum
.A Snake Just Bit My Toe
.I Love My Lawnmower
.A Herd of Turtles
.Things Can Walk to You
