Description:

R. Strauss "Capriccio" at the Vienna State Opera! Fleming, Skovhus, and Kirchschlager! With Japanese subtitles! A powerful new video of R. Strauss' last opera, "Capriccio," live at the Vienna State Opera in June 2013, a new production of the 2008 production, but a very strong re-staging. The main attraction is Renée Fleming's Countess. This is the third time she has performed "Capriccio" on film, and it shows how well she plays the role. Fleming's sensitive and well-developed expression is superb here as well. She, Bo Skowhus as the Count, Michael Schade as the Flemishman, and Angelika Kirchschlager as the Clairon are all from the original 2008 cast, and all are perfectly suited to their roles. The quasi-leading role of Kirchschlager is a luxury that only Vienna can offer.Markus Eicher, who sings Olivier, is still fresh in our minds from his acclaimed performance of Wagner's "Tannhäuser" at the Tokyo Spring Music Festival in April 2012, singing a wonderful Wolfram. And La Roche is flanked by the veteran Kurt Riddle. The conductor is Christoph Eschenbach, who has often worked with Fleming. His unique sense of meticulous beauty must be a good match for Fleming. Of course, the Viennese orchestra is ideally suited for Strauss. The director, Marco Arturo Marelli, has an Italian name, but he was born in Zurich, Switzerland, and has worked in German-speaking theaters such as Hamburg. The stage is a fusion of Italian-style bright beauty and German-style functional beauty. Japanese subtitles are included.Enjoy Strauss in Vienna in vivid images! King International
