Description:

The Huberman Week Music Festival, which brought together a splendid lineup of competing musicians, is now available as a live recording of the Huberman Week Music Festival that will make violin fans weep with joy! This festival was organized by Zubin Mehta on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Bronislaw Huberman's birth and took place in December 1982, bringing together violin greats such as Isaac Stern, Ida Handel, Ivry Gitlis, Henryk Schelling, and Itzhak Perlman. This was the first of its kind to take place. The main attraction of this festival was the overly luxurious competition, which included Schelling and other violinists who had studied under Hubermann, as well as his successors, Perlman, Zuckerman, Mintz, and other young and mid-career violinists of the time. This is a rousing show that could only come from a music festival, but the performances are all outstanding! The Bach Doppel (Stern & Mintz) and Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins (Stern, Mintz, Handel, and Gitlis) are a clash of personalities, and the performance is a shocking one that only these members could express. On the other hand, Schelling & Hayyim Taub (violinists who served as concertmasters of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from 1969 to 1988) give us a hard-edged ensemble performance of Vivaldi. The soloists also showcase their best repertoire, with Perlman (Beethoven), Schelling (Tchaikovsky), Zuckerman (Elgar), Handel (Sibelius), and Gitlis (Bartók No. 2). I am very happy to hear them.Needless to say, this was one of the most productive concerts that we have ever had the pleasure of hearing so many members perform during a single week. The final day of Music Week (December 19, 1982) marked the 100th anniversary of Hubermann's birth, and the concert was a historic tribute to this great violist. King International
