The two hit it off and began working together as a duo, which led to the formation of the Youngbloods. Although most attention tends to focus on Young because he left the group when the Youngbloods moved to the West Coast, Corbitt (vocals and 12-string guitar), who wrote the group's first hit, \"Grizzly Bear\" (1967), was undoubtedly another frontman in the early YB years. His first solo album, \"Corbitt\" (1969), recorded in Berkeley, California, was released on Polydor label, and was produced by Charlie Daniels, a Nashville studio musician who had also participated in Dylan's local recordings. In 1971, Capitol released a second Nashville-recorded album, Jerry Corbitt, also produced by Daniels. Daniels, Tim Drummond (bass\/former Mother Earth), Buddy Spiker (violin\/Area Code 615), and J.C. Young, a close friend of Daniels, joined the band on guitar. Based on the sound of the early YB, the band delivers a more roots-oriented folk-rock sound.Daniels also made his solo debut on the same Capitol label with the album \"Charlie Daniels,\" which was produced by Corbitt.
