Description:
Popular electro-pop band Church's latest release is here! Glasgow's popular electro-pop band, The Churches, consisting of Lauren Maybury, Martin Doherty and Ian Cook, have released their fourth studio album, "Screen Violence"! Following the high-profile announcement of the band's full-fledged launch in April 2021 with the long-awaited new single "He Said She Said," which delighted fans, the second single from the new album, "How Not To Drown," features Robert Smith, who the Churches say is their "ultimate hero." The distinctive voice of Robert Smith, frontman of the well-known The Cure, blends curiously and perfectly with Lauren's clear voice, and the song is supported by a dark piano tone that is in keeping with the concept of staying conscious even when drowning. Recorded in Los Angeles and Glasgow using video calls and audio sharing programs, the album was self-produced by Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty, and Ian Cook, who even mixed it themselves. This time, they even mixed the album themselves. The result is an original and special album that is truly unique to The Churches. The album title "Screen Violence" was initially a candidate for the band's name. Ten years later, in the midst of this pandemic, the term "Screen Violence" couldn't be more true to life. People found it difficult to relate to even their loved ones any more than they did to the characters on the TV show, and experienced a traumatic world that felt like a whole new world. It was in this context that the Churches decided on these words as the title of their new album. The themes of "Screen Violence" are expressed in three main forms: on screen, by screens, and through screens. --The film depicts feelings of loneliness, disillusionment, fear, heartbreak, and regret. The production of "Screen Violence" was also a commemoration of the band's decade together. Through their debut album "The Bones of What You Believe" in 2013, "Every Open Eye" in 2015, and their last album "Love is Dead" released in 2018, they have created and solidified their sound. The Japanese CD will include an additional bonus track, a remix of "How Not To Drown" by Robert Smith, and a bilingual lyrics/commentary enclosed.
