Description:

Isabelle Faust's new disc, a collection of Weber's works, is now in the spotlight! Isabelle Faust is one of the most brilliant violinists of our time. Her latest release is a collection of Weber's works. Weber was an important pioneer of the Romantic movement in Germany, a versatile music director, a lucid critic, and a brilliant pianist. Although Weber is best known for his "Die Zauberflote" and his piano music, he wrote only nine completed chamber pieces, eight of which were composed by Weber himself. Eight of the nine pieces were composed with the piano, an instrument in which Weber himself was quite a virtuoso. In this recording, the splendid Isabelle Faust and her colleagues reproduce Weber's brilliant chamber works, led by the dazzling tones that only Faust could have produced. Melnikov's lively and spirited fortepiano tone is also superb. The viola player in the quartet, Boris Faust, is Isabelle's brother. The cellist is Schmidt, who has visited Japan before. The Six Violin Sonatas were composed in the late summer of 1810 at the request of publisher Johann Anton Andre. Weber was not very enthusiastic about this work, as his letters and other documents indicate, but the content is truly varied and full of Weber's brilliance. The music is full of variety and Weber's brilliance. The Bolero (No. 2, 1st movement, Carrature Espagnolo), which sounds like castanets being struck, and the Air Luz (No. 3, 1st movement), which evokes the sound of a balalaika, are full of multinational sentiments, as well as charming melodies, here and there with gorgeous passages that remind one of the aria from The Magic Bullet Archer. Although it is intended for amateurs, it is a very rich work. The quartet is also designed to be enjoyed by the ensemble, and the lively banter between Faust and Melnikov is a must-see! The Quartet was completed in September 1809, when Weber was 22 years old. The highlight of the quartet is the second movement. This movement has an enigmatic beginning, with the piano responding to an impressive question that begins with chromatic string harmonies, followed by an abrupt pause, and then a pizzicato cadenza. It is known that this movement alone was completed in 1806, and the rest of the movements were written later. The first movement has a short piano introduction, followed by a beautiful first movement with a fresh romantic melody, a full second movement with beautiful string sounds, a short third movement with esprit, and a final movement with a fugue-like exchange among the three string instruments, in which the piano moves around in all directions in a magnificent manner. The piano is in full swing in the final movement. The beauty of Weber's melody, played with Faust's unwaveringly straight tone, the piano part with Melnikov's brilliance and intelligence, and the ensemble's virtuosity. All in all, this is a collection of Weber's works of exceptional quality. A gem of a disc. King International
