This is the third recording of the clarinet concerto! Martin Frest \/ Mozart: Ecstasy and the Abyss The latest recording by Sweden's superb clarinetist, Martin Frest, is a 2-CD set of Mozart's last works. The album shows the duality of Mozart's music and life: light and shadow, man and God, life and death, playfulness and profundity, catastrophe and triumph, organized around the two months of Mozart's life. CD 1 focuses on the repertoire from a concert Mozart gave in Leipzig in May 1789, a very difficult time in his life. The program included two piano concertos, a fantasy, and a symphony at the beginning and end of the concert.Although there are no known symphonies, the works here include Mozart's last symphony, \"Jupiter,\" first, as well as his performed dramas and arias K.505 and Piano Concerto No. 25. CD 2 focuses on works related to his beloved last trip to Prague (August-September 1791). The first is Symphony No. 38 \"Prague\" premiered in January 1787, the second and third movements of Basset Horn Concerto K. 621b, which is said to have been composed for Stadler in 1787, and Clarinet Concerto K. 622, which was composed between September and November 1791. The concerto includes an aria with basset clarinet from the opera \"The Mercy of Emperor Tito\", which was premiered in Prague on September 6, 1791 under his own direction. The Clarinet Concerto is what is Martin Frest's third recording. The second movement of the two previous recordings has become Frest's most streamed single, with 10 million plays on Spotify. This time, he recorded it with basset clarinet playing, and about it Frest said, \"Every performance of the work is its own statement and contains its own truth. .... This release marks 20 years since I recorded my first piece and 10 years since my second. The world has changed immeasurably in that time. I have changed as an artist and as a person. And we change as listeners. This album marks Frest's full-fledged debut as a conductor, conducting and \"blowing\" with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. The soloists are also diverse, including Luca Debargue, the rising French pianist who made a name for herself around the world with her strong personality at the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition (2015), in Aria K.505 and Piano Concerto No. 25, both with piano. The performance was not only technically perfect, but also in phrasing, nuance, and dynamic control, as performed by Swedish court soprano Eirin Lomv and young singer Anne Hallenberg, who has won the International Opera Award and is used by such ancient music conductors as Arnoncourt, Herreweghe, Biondi, and Eim, The performance is not only technically perfect, but the phrasing, nuances, and dynamic control allow Mozart's musicality to flourish.
