French female cellist Anne Gastinel's new Beethoven album is a Beethoven by a very gorgeous cast of faces. The Trio Concerto is performed by Gil Shaham, whom she fell in love with at first sight, and her longtime collaborator Angelisch, with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra led by Pavo. The Trio Concerto was performed by A. Ottensamer, who I also fell in love with at first hearing. The sublime beauty of Gastinel's cello in the slow movement of the Trio Concerto, Gil Shaham's delicate violin playing with the cello, Angelisch's all-embracing piano, and the orchestra warmly surrounding the three. Everything is perfect, full of breathtakingly beautiful moments. In the Trio with Clarinet, all three musicians were so lively that one could feel that they were enjoying every note of the performance.Beethoven at his best! King International
